Order is the soul of everything!

How many times did we hear this as children? Quite a lot — and yet in our fast-paced world we forget those childhood lessons. Day by day, unnecessary clutter piles up in the living room and the study, and in the best case — if you have one — it gets banished to the garage. But in time that fills up too, so we can no longer use it for what it was meant for. Objects slowly overwhelm us, cleaning becomes a chore, everything is in the way. We snap. We've had enough. What can we do?

Well,

Tidy up your home!

Have a good look around and put a post-it on everything you don't use or that is in the way.  Let this be more than just a clear-out, but let's definitely not think of it as throwing these things away — after all, they have sentimental or real value.

It's best to start labelling from the furthest corner of the home and work your way forward. Out come the winter coats, ski trousers, ski boots, seasonal clothes, clothes that have been outgrown or no longer fit, wobbly chairs, curtains, grandma's entire tablecloth collection, and the incredible number of stuffed animals we had completely forgotten about.

Papers, contracts, empty picture frames, old toys, bicycles, the unused microwave, summer or winter tyres, leftover paint or insulation material.

And then there are the "I'll do something with that one day" items, such as the old sewing machine base.

Once you've finished the clear-out, you'll have a clear picture of how much storage space you need to create a fresh, airy home for yourself and your family. The items marked with post-its will be safest in our storage units, and what's more, you can access them 24 hours a day. It's worth choosing a slightly larger unit, as our experience shows that our tenants always find more and more things they don't need on a daily basis at home.
